JOUR DE FÊTE 20/05 - 09/06/2011

La exposición de videoarte Jour de Fête reúne una selección de obras de videoarte que exploran el concepto de celebración y festividad en un sentido amplio.
El banquete como ritual festivo en la esfera doméstica, el baile y la estética de la fiesta, la simbología asociada a la celebración patriótica y religiosa son algunos de los aspectos presentes en el conjunto de obras que integran la muestra.
Los videos han sido seleccionados por los comisarios Pedro Torres y Alexandra Laudo (Heroínas de la Cultura) a partir de una convocatoria internacional a la que se han presentado unos 250 trabajos de artistas de todo el mundo.
La exposición se realizará en el marco del Festival Internacional de Videoarte Loop.

Over the period of 10 years I performed a ritual obsessively.
Every time I would visit somebody’s house I would steal a framed photo from it.
I appropriated one of the most prized pieces of memory humans possess.

Instalación que consiste en cuatro pequeños monitores que muestran a cuatro hombres españoles que lanzan piropos a los estudiantes/as de la universidad.

INSTRUCTION #1 MAKE A CUP OF TEA:

Put some water in the kettle, plug the kettle in and forget to switch the kettle to ON. Pick my
favourite mug, a present from Sicily.
Put a tea bag in the cup, (Twinning’s organic earl grey) and after 1 minute realize you haven’t
pressed the button to ON.
Press the button to ON and wait for the water to boil. Tap dull rhythms on the kitchen top with
the spoon until the water boils. Before the button switches to OFF, release it yourself.
Pour the water in, squeeze the tea bag and pour some semi-skimmed milk in with the bag. Take
the tea bag out and put in half a spoon of sugar.
